Our Programme Pillars

ACFF’s work spans four pillars that translate climate science into stories, solutions and scaled‑up action.

1. Climate Journalism & Public Education

We demystify climate issues through investigative journalism, explainers and educational outreach across radio, television, digital and community channels. Flagship activities include:

  • Asempa Climate Desk: Weekly explainers and investigations across Asempa FM, JoyNews and other media brands, with local‑language segments.
  • Climate Classroom: School outreach, teacher toolkits, climate clubs and debate circuits to engage students and educators.
  • Truth & Data: Visual explainers, infographics and community scorecards on floods, droughts, food security, health and air quality.

2. Community Adaptation & Resilience

We empower households and local groups to prepare for and respond to climate impacts. Our interventions include:

  • Micro‑Grants: Competitive small grants (GHS 5k–50k) for nature‑based solutions such as mangrove restoration, tree‑growing, clean cookstoves and rainwater harvesting.
  • Resilience Clinics: Mobile clinics offering expert advice on disaster preparedness, climate‑smart agriculture and WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene).
  • City & Coastal Action Labs: Pilots with local authorities on drainage, waste segregation, early‑warning systems and heat‑action plans.

3. Climate‑Smart Livelihoods & Enterprise

We build skills and support small enterprises that drive a just transition to a green economy:

  • Green Skills Bootcamps: Youth training in solar basics, maintenance, briquettes, composting and upcycling.
  • SME Support: Market linkage and basic finance for circular‑economy micro‑enterprises in areas such as plastic recovery, eco‑blocks and organic fertiliser.

4. Policy Engagement & Accountability

We create platforms for citizens, scientists and policymakers to co‑create solutions and hold duty‑bearers accountable:

  • Climate Townhalls: Quarterly citizen‑policy dialogues rotated across regions, with summaries presented to Parliament and relevant ministries.
  • Policy Tracker: Media‑friendly dashboards on nationally determined contributions, climate finance flows, municipal by‑laws and enforcement.
